Welcome to impotentchrist.com!About this siteOn this page we are going to discuss the concept that Christ (or God in the general sense) is 'impotent', or in otherwords, all-powerful but unable to act. |

This page talks about the "impotent Christ of Romanism which continually 'sacrifices' him in their masses..." The Band Jade Tree has as song called Jacobs Laddder, with lyrics which say "wipe away the tears that have been shed for an impotent Christ". More here. In this article, the author says "the Bible sees the Cross as revealing God's power to save, not His impotence." This page about alcoholism and overeating, mentions "a Christ who is competent to control or an impotent Christ who cannot control." In 'The Christ of the New Age Movement' the author says in discussion of the 'arcane school of theosophy': "Preparation for the Second Coming is hence the responsibility of 'attuned' human beings. Those who know about this Coming are to help create conditions of 'spiritual alignment' which will ultimately draw the Christ forth into our midst. Without this, the Christ is impotent to act." Related to the impotence of God, is the concept of human beauty. Ultra-conservative Christian, Jewish, and Muslim sects view the female body as sinful because of the arousal it causes in heterosexual men. If this is so, then God is an impotent God, as he would not purposefully create humans in his own image and then imbue them with something inherently sinful/evil. Thankfully this view of the human body is not as widespread as it once was. Take for example the popularity of female photography sites, such as the photos of Petter Hegre. Judging by their universal appeal to both men and women, the human body appears to be a gift from a powerful God, and not an accident of an impotent creator. |
